If you discover your identity has been stolen, you should contact the Police and the credit bureaus, and close suspect accounts.

Preventing Identity Theft
To try to prevent identity theft, there are many steps you can take. Here are some examples of things you can do to try to prevent identity theft:

  • Keep sensitive personal information in a safe or other location accessible only to you
  • Shred documents containing your personal information before you dispose of them
  • Obtain your credit reports from each of the three major credit bureaus once every 6-12 months
  • Avoid giving out personal information over the phone
  • Regularly review your recent Card account activity
